The Science of Cellulite

No cream, wrap, massage, or supplement will make a difference when it comes to cellulite. Yet, many topical products are marketed with the promise of results. Cellulite is not a surface issue. The problem lies beneath the skin.

Understanding the anatomy of the subcutaneous layers and how cellulite occurs is key when it comes to finding a treatment with real results.

Cellulite

While genetics, hormones, lifestyle, and weight loss or gain influence the development of dimples in the skin, the primary cause is anatomical.

Dimples in the skin are caused by tiny bands (Fibrous Septae). Fibrous Septae connect the skin to the underlying anatomy. In between the skin and underlying anatomy are shallow fat cells.

These tiny bands contract/stiffen, pulling inward. While fat cells expand, pushing outward. Resulting in little dimples all over the thighs and buttocks.
