What Is Kybella?

Kybella is an injectable solution that contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that assists in the breakdown and absorption of fat. When injected into the area, it initiates the breakdown of the fat cells in the area.

Benefits Of Kybella Treatments

Kybella is an innovative, non-invasive treatment that offers many benefits, including:

  • A non-surgical procedure: Dr. Egrari and his nurse providers perform this procedure by injecting Kybella in the area under the chin in a process that takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. No incisions, sutures, or post-surgical pain.
  • Profile enhancement: Kybella reduces sagging chin fat and the “wedge” under the chin so you can take pictures from any angle and stop stressing about unflattering posts on social media.
  • Long-lasting results: Injected under the chin, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells in the area. Once the fat cells have been destroyed, they can no longer store or accumulate fat. Once you have achieved your cosmetic goals with Kybella, no further treatment should be required.
  • Minimal to no downtime: Kybella is a quick procedure and you can return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. You may experience mild swelling, bruising, or numbness after the procedure.
  • Years taken off your appearance: Submental fullness is a sign of aging, and it can make a person appear older. Kybella treatments can improve facial and neck profiles and help you present a far more youthful appearance.
  • The appearance of looking pounds lighter without losing weight: Kybella treatments can decrease the appearance of a double chin and make the jawline appear slimmer and more defined. Losing the submental fat can help create the appearance of noticeable weight loss.

Causes Of Double-Chin

Submental fat is not necessarily the result of being overweight. Even slender people can have a double chin. Possible causes of this cosmetic issue include:

Diet and weight gain

A high-calorie diet of processed foods may contribute to overall weight gain and a double chin.

Aging

The skin begins to lose elasticity with aging. This can result in loose skin that contributes to a double chin.

Genetics

If you have a family history of skin laxity and submental fat, you may be predisposed to developing fat deposits under the chin.

Poor posture

The muscles of the neck and chin may be weakened with poor posture. As the skin surrounding the weak muscles begins to lose elasticity, it can contribute to developing submental fullness.

Intended Results

Fat reduction in the under-chin area to achieve a more defined, youthful jawline and upper neck appearance.

Healing

  • We ask that you do not take any blood thinners (i.e., fish oil, vitamin E, ibuprofen, aspirin, and blood-thinning medications) before or after treatment while healing. It’s normal to experience minor swelling or bruising after the procedure.
  • Arnica may be provided to help aid recovery and speed the reduction of swelling and bruising that may occur after Kybella injections.
  • Apply ice packs to help decrease swelling and bruising.
  • Some areas where Kybella has been injected may feel hard, but as the product spreads through the tissue, this will subside.

Other Options

In some cases, a combination of CoolSculpting®, Ultherapy®, or both may enhance Kybella results. We offer this in a procedure known as the E/Lift IV, one of our own unique treatments. For more extensive body sculpting, some patients may need liposuction or another procedure.

Please see our promotions section to find out more about the dramatic results of our E/Lift procedure.

Financial Information

This procedure is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance, and you as the patient will be responsible for payment. We encourage you to talk to our friendly staff to find out about various financing options.

How many treatments do I need?

The number of treatments needed depends on your unique physiology and aesthetic goals. Some patients only need one treatment, while others may need up to four.

How long will results last?

Fat cells that were destroyed will not return, but other fat cells will still grow if you gain significant weight. To maintain results, keep your weight steady.

How much does it cost?

The cost of your Kybella treatment will depend on the number of treatments you need to achieve your aesthetic goals and other factors. On average, each Kybella treatment costs between $1,200 to $1,800.

Will Kybella tighten neck skin?

While Kybella is not targeted to tighten the skin, the treatment helps to stimulate collagen production, which can firm the skin.

Is it painful?

Kybella is not typically considered painful, but you may experience some soreness in the treatment area for several days.

What happens if I gain weight after treatment?

If you gain enough weight, the remaining fat cells in the area under your chin will grow in size, which could result in a return of your double chin.
