Are you dismayed to see the signs of aging, with drooping brows and deep wrinkles and creases? Find out more about a brow lift procedure.

Who Is A Candidate For A Brow Lift?

You may be a good candidate:

  • If your forehead sags or your brows have drifted down and are now too close to your eyes.
  • If you have deep vertical furrows between the eyebrows (frown lines).
  • If the outside corners of your eyes look hooded due to drooping brow skin.

Intended Results

  • To achieve a more youthful and rested appearance to the forehead and upper eyelids
  • To achieve a more feminine brow position
  • To correct the “hooding” appearing at the outside corner of the eyes
  • To achieve a result that conveys a lovely, feminine rise to the brows rather than a surprised, tight, or unnatural look

Brow Lift Or Forehead Lift Procedure Description

This procedure is done on an outpatient basis with the patient under general anesthesia. Usually, endoscopic or minimally invasive surgical techniques are employed to minimize scarring. Specialized absorbable implants (Endotine® by MicroAire®) are used to help lift brow tissue.

Different techniques such as temporal lift, hairline lift, or a standard lift are used to address the type of aging that is presented.

The forehead skin is lifted and re-positioned, tightening the muscles that have created the frown lines. Specific attention is paid to the natural feminine position of the eyebrow, to avoid that surprised, unnatural look of a poorly performed brow lift. Women that have very long foreheads (which is a sign of aging) can benefit from an innovative forehead shortening hairline lift.  When open techniques are used, the incisions are typically placed inside the hairline. For patients with higher foreheads, the incisions can be placed in front of the hairline.

Recovery And Healing From A Brow Lift

The patient goes home with the area wrapped in dressings, which are usually removed the day after surgery. Any discomfort can be easily controlled with oral medication. Sutures or staples are removed within 10 days. Most swelling and bruising is gone in seven to ten days.

Other Options And Treatments

Additional procedures that may enhance results are lower and/or upper eyelid lift, a facelift, chin augmentation, or other facial enhancements. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons offers additional information on forehead/brow lift at https://www.plasticsurgery.org/.
