Before Your Treatment

  • 6-12 MONTHS BEFORE: AVOID Accutane (Isotretinoin) within 6 months of your treatment
  • 7 DAYS BEFORE treatment, do not ingest blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve.
    • If you have a cardiovascular history, please check with your doctor prior to stopping the use of blood thinners.
  • 7 DAYS BEFORE treatment, avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or any anti-aging products.
  • AVOID waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
Plan your procedure so that you can have 4 full days before returning to work or important social engagement.
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before (or after) your treatment to avoid extra bruising.

Day of Your Treatment

  • Please come to the office without make-up, creams, gels, or lotions on treatment areas.

What to Expect

  • Redness and a moderate amount of swelling are normal. Some bruising may also be visible.
  • Difficulty swallowing may also occur due to swelling around the throat.
  • You may experience some tenderness, stinging, and burning at the treatment sites that can last for a few hours or a few days.
  • A topical anesthetic and ice may be applied to maximize your comfort during the procedure.
  • Sometimes, a local numbing medication will be injected into or around the area(s) to be treated.
  • To ensure a smooth and even correction, your provider may massage the area(s) treated, which may cause a temporary, minimal amount of redness to your skin.
  • Depending upon the area(s) treated and product(s) used, you may feel “firmness” in the treated area(s) for 1 to 2 weeks after treatment. Over time, the area(s) will soften and settle.

After Your Treatment

  • Wait for at least 24 hours (or as directed by your provider) before receiving any skincare, waxing, or laser procedures in the treatment area.
  • You may take Acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort.
  • AVOID exercise or strenuous activities for the remainder of the treatment day; you may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.
  • AVOID extended UV exposure until any redness/swelling has subsided. Be sure to apply an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen.
  • AVOID waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours after treatment to avoid extra bruising.
