Before your Treatment
- 6-12 MONTHS BEFORE: AVOID Accutane (Isotretinoin) within 6 months of your treatment
- AVOID tanning: natural, spray tan, and all other self-tanners.
- 1 WEEK BEFORE treatment, avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or any anti-aging products.
- AVOID bleaching, waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory creams in the treatment area.
- Use sunscreen with UVA/UVB protection with SPF 30 or higher.
- Inform your provider of any medications, supplements, or recent treatments that may increase photosensitivity.
- If you have a history of Herpes or cold sores, a course of anti-viral medication before and after treatment is required. Please call our office for a prescription.
Day of your Treatment
- Please come to the office without makeup, creams, gels, or lotions on treatment areas.
What to expect
- The treated area may be pinkish immediately following the procedure.
- You may experience warmth, flushing, or mild swelling for 12-24 hours.
- Pigmented areas may temporarily darken or appear more prominent before gradually fading. This is a normal response and may not occur in every patient.
After Your Treatment
- Use plain, lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser to wash your skin 2x daily. Use your hands and fingertips to cleanse.
- DO NOT rub, scrub, or use an exfoliant or skincare brush such as a Clarisonic on the treated area.
- Moisturizer should be applied generously with clean hands over the treated area and reapplied whenever your skin feels dry.
- Use sunscreen with UVA/UVB protection with SPF 30 or higher.
- Avoid heat, saunas, hot yoga, and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours.
- Avoid picking, scratching, or irritating the treated skin.
- Resume active skincare (retinoids, acids, exfoliants) only after your provider advises.
