Before your procedure

  • 6-12 MONTHS BEFORE: You must have normal test results from a routine pelvic exam and PAP Smear.
  • 6 MONTHS BEFORE AVOID Accutane (Isotretinoin) within 6 months of your treatment.
  • 2 WEEKS BEFORE AVOID tanning: natural, spray tan, tanning beds, and all other self-tanners.
  • 7 DAYS BEFORE treatment, do not ingest blood thinning medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve. If you have a history of cardiovascular disease, please check with your doctor before stopping blood thinners. 
  • 5 DAYS BEFORE AVOID alcoholic beverages and herbal supplements, such as Garlic, Vitamin E, Ginkgo Biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Omega-3 capsules.
  • 5 DAYS BEFORE, we recommend starting OTC Arnica tablets to minimize bruising.
  • 3-5 DAYS BEFORE AVOID shaving, waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using depilatory creams in the treatment area.
  • 3 DAYS BEFORE: If you have a history of Herpes or cold sores, a course of anti-viral medication before and after treatment is required. Please call our office for a prescription.

Day of your procedure

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing
  • A topical anesthetic will be applied to your skin, and you will numb for 30-45 minutes.
  • A single-use wand is inserted into the vagina to treat internal areas. It may also be placed on external areas.

What to Expect

  • Soreness and cramping
  • You may have light spotting. You may use a panty liner as needed
  • Small needle marks or small scabs
  • Most healing occurs within the first 2-4 weeks

After your procedure

  • 1-3 DAYS AFTER you may take OTC Tylenol for mild to moderate cramping or discomfort.
  • Any scabs should flake off naturally; avoid touching or scratching. Apply Aquaphor ointment to external skin ONLY to reduce skin irritation caused by treatment.
  • 3 DAYS AFTER Avoid alcohol, smoking, and NSAIDS (Aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.).
  • 7 DAYS AFTER You may resume exercise, swimming, pools/hot tubs, using tampons, or having intercourse.

Contact Our Office

  • If you develop blisters or open sores in the treatment area.
  • If your side effects worsen or persist for longer than 4 weeks
  • If you are experiencing significant pain that is not relieved by the recommended pain medication listed above.

Follow-up

  • 4-6 weeks after each treatment.
