Description of thigh lift procedure
- Inner thigh lifts are done either by placing the incision in the groin crack or, more commonly, extending the incision down the middle of the thigh towards the knees.
- Liposuction is a very common part of this operation to remove the excess fat and also to loosen the skin of the inner thigh.
- The scar is either in the groin crease or runs down the middle of the thigh towards the knees. Occasionally the incision goes past the knees to grab the excess of the skin of the lower thighs and knees.
- Drains are used and removed at 3-5 days.
- Most sutures are absorbable.
- A special garment is provided.
- The procedure is done as an outpatient and under general anesthesia.
Recuperation and healing after thigh lift
- Patients usually take 7-10 days off work.
- Exercise is resumed at 4-6 weeks.
- Final results are evident in 3 months.
- Initial discomfort is relieved with oral analgesics.
Other options and information on thigh lift operation
- Thigh lifts are often time done after a lower body lift. The body lifts usually lift a tremendous segment of the thighs. What is left is then lifted with a thigh lift.
- Traditional groin crease has lost its popularity to the more circumferential thigh lift that places the scar down the middle of the inner thigh.
