Description of lower body lift procedure
- Pre-operative analysis allows marking the specific areas that need to be addressed and the position of the incision that needs to be created.
- Segment of lower abdomen, sides, and back is circumferentially and completely removed. The lower thighs and buttocks are elevated and sutured into a proper position. Occasionally Liposuction or a specialized elevating instrument is used to loosen the skin for maximal lift.
- The abdominal wall is tightened with specialized sutures.
- Many layers of deep sutures hold this tremendous lift. Skin is sutured all from within and covered with glue or tape.
- Two drains and an On-Q pain pump are placed.
- A special garment is placed.
- Innovative intra-operative positioning is used to address all dimensions of the lower body.
- The operation is done under general anesthesia and is mostly performed as an outpatient procedure.
Recuperation and healing after lower body lift
- Discomfort is controlled with a proven regimen of strong analgesics and muscle relaxants. The pain pump helps tremendously.
- Significant attention needs to be paid to the positioning of the patient after this operation.
- All sutures are dissolvable.
- Most patients take 2-3 weeks off work and resume exercise in 6 weeks.
- The final result is evident in 2-3 months.
