Nutrition is an essential part of your quest for health and beauty.
Angela Pifer, MSN, Certified Nutritionist has teamed up with our practice to help our patients with their nutritional needs. Angela received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Washington and her master’s degree in nutrition from Bastyr University. Her approach is to view each of our patients as individuals with habits and routines unique to them. Angela knows there isn’t one specific program that works for everyone; if there were then one of the popular diets would work for every person. “We are all creatures of habits,” says Angela, “I look at their routines and habits and then make small changes over time. I stay within the framework of these habits and what the patient is capable of changing. Our goals evolve with each visit as the patient becomes increasingly capable of incorporating new habits into their lives.”
Human nature dictates that the more restrictive we are with our eating, the more we crave certain foods, the more hungry we get from restricting foods throughout the day, the more likely we are to binge on these foods. Angela can help you break the cycle of dieting by teaching you how to listen to your body and its needs.
Nutrition also plays an important part in helping our plastic and reconstructive patients optimize on their plastic surgery. Patients are encouraged to receive nutrition counseling before their surgery so that they make healthy changes before their operation. These changes can assist in a better and faster post surgical recovery. Additionally, we have found that many of our patients benefit from nutrition counseling after body contouring such as liposuction and abdominoplasty.

Nutritional needs change as we age. For example, after menopause, women have different nutritional needs including an increased requirement for calcium, water, vitamins D and B12. Increasing antioxidant intake can also help lower the risk of developing many chronic diseases that can come with age. It goes without saying that good nutrition can help you feel and look better as you embrace new lifestyle changes with plastic surgery.
